About me: Rena Zimmerman, aka Barb Carpenter, describes herself as one of the most fortunate women alive. Rena, her Hebrew name, means Joy; Zimmerman, her patriarchal family name, means room builder; and, together, her name represents her vision that her art fill your surroundings with joy.

A career educator for 25 years, Rena currently teaches quilting, psychology, health and science at an alternative high school. Designing and creating beautiful, colorful quilts and Judaica is her creative passion. She is an active member of her local Jewish community, Beth Chaim Congregation. She and her two dogs live next to a creek in her family home in Danville, CA, surrounded by nature that nourishes her spirituality that in turn inspires her creativity.
